A fairytale wedding day on Italy’s Lake Como

There is nothing quite like the optimistic shimmer of romantic Lake Como to compliment the perfect wedding in Italy! After attending a number of events on the shores of Lake Como in years past, Margie and Ryan had the pleasure of experiencing their own wedding day there. And SposiamoVi had the pleasure of organizing their idyllic day!

Travelling to Italy’s inspiring Lake Como from New York City, Margie and Ryan wanted to exude a daring yet fairytale atmosphere in every aspect of their wedding. From the ceremony to the decorations, from the meal to the party and from the gowns to the tuxedoes. No shoe left unpolished and not a hair out of place.

When the morning of the wedding arrived, Margie and her five bridesmaids got dressed in her hotel suite, overlooking the stunning lake in Tremezzo. After hair and make make-up received bridal approval, they donned their lovely gowns and were ready to go. Our SposiamoVi wedding planner led the merry party to the nearby Villa Carlotta park for a brief pre-wedding photo session.

The wedding itself was held at Villa del Balbianello; arguably the greatest venue on Lake Como. Before the ceremony, Margie and Ryan’s guests enjoyed a pre-wedding cocktail on the Villa’s sunny terrace near its loggia. They had a pristine view over Lake Como, the beautiful blue Italian sky above.

Soon after the welcome cocktails were served, the guests noticed a seaplane landing on the water. As the plane came to a stop, the groom surprised the guests by hopping out of the plane and into a small waiting boat in true James Bond style! Looking debonair in his tailored black tuxedo and bow tie, Ryan finally reached the terrace to welcome his guests.

Shortly after the guests were seated, Margie and her bridesmaids arrived at the Villa’s launch by boat. It was quite a sight to see that many beautiful, poised women in one place at one time! On cue, the bridesmaids floated down the aisle, visions in mint green gowns. Then Margie took her father’s arm and appeared to all; a dazzling image in flowing couture, swathed in a graceful chapel-length veil.

The wedding ceremony had a dignified and refined atmosphere. Margie and Ryan glanced lovingly at one another throughout the ceremony, which was performed with the utmost care. The guests were in awe of the bride and groom as they took their vows under the dreamy loggia of Villa del Balbianello, Lake Como glistening in the background.

After the wedding ceremony, everyone took time out to congratulate the newlyweds and wander about the Villa’s amazing park that overlooks the lake. During this time, Margie and Ryan slipped away for their own stylish photo session.

Soon after Margie and Ryan finished their photo shoot, we organised a number of antique wooden taxi boats to transport everyone to the reception venue: a glamorous private villa in nearby Cernobbio. The bride and groom were first to board a private boat, followed by the wedding party and guests.

Dinner at the villa was outstanding! Fine touches of white and gold could be found everywhere. We strung fairy lights and crystals throughout the trees and branches. Dressed elegant round tables with fine tablecloths, tasteful place settings and tall golden candle sticks, each topped with a globe of white roses. Golden chairs finished the effect. The bride, groom and all their guests enjoyed an authentic and masterfully prepared Italian dinner.

The party got going as soon as the band, straight from the USA, took the stage and started to play. Everyone got up on the dance floor to show off their moves.

At a certain moment Margie and Ryan were escorted to the stage to cut their cake: an impressive four tiered white cake, decorated with white peonies and roses.
Good music and an open bar carried the couple and their guests well into the night in glittering style!
